EL ARTE DE FRACASAR O EL SíNDROME DE SISIFO.

Hay un deseo insatisfecho en el creador, al que muchas veces se ha representado como «la ansiedad del artista» y que en psicología esta necesidad de reiteración del acto creativo y de la búsqueda de perfección estaría representada por la imposibilidad simbólica, pero también inconsciente, de recuperar lo que Melanie Klein llamó “el objeto bueno” algo que se ha perdido y que daba sensación de unidad en las primeras etapas de la vida. Como artista, pronto fui consciente de enfrentarme a esta quimera aprendiendo a lidiar con lo imperfecto, con el fracaso. Como fotógrafo también tuve que aceptar la incapacidad de la fotografía para establecer una relación de equivalencia con los objetos que pretende representar.

Fruto de esta imposibilidad, de este doble fracaso surge este proyecto Unknown Error 2.0. en el que se reunen una serie trabajos que tienen como denominador común el accidente, el fallo o el error y que indaga en la naturaleza de lo fotográfico, más allá de la fiel representación.

Unknown Error 2.0 reune una serie de projectos realizado a lo largo de más de una década que tienen un denominador común el concepto de fracaso. En esta serie de proyectos lo casual, lo aleatorio, la coincidencia, el accidente o el error son contenedores de una notable y poderosa creatividad.

Unknow Error 2.0 consta de tres proyectos que también funcionan de manera autónoma.

1. Lab Mistakes 2004, reune una serie de fotografías en papel de pequeño formato donde surgieron fallos al revelar la película fotográfica analógica y que fueron desechados  por no ser aptos para su venta por el laboratorio de fotografía en la que yo mismo trabajaba y que fui coleccionando durante los meses en los que estuve trabajando en aquella empresa.

2. Interludes 2005, surge como continuación de Lab Mistakes. En este caso, un error de de funcionamiento del software de tratamiento digital de imágenes que yo utilizaba produjo este encuentro casual y formalmente similar que me llevó a dar un paso más en esa dirección y realizar esta serie de cajas de luz retroiluminadas.

3. Glitches 2008 / 13, da un nuevo paso en mi propuesta de investigación en torno al error, el accidente, el fracaso y mi interes por el Arte no realizado por la mano del hombre. En esta ocasión, se recogen una serie de “imágenes encontradas” que surgen de errores al navegar por internet. Los buscadores que usamos para navegar por la web usan diferentes extensiones que pueden generar bugs, fallos de sistema, por ejemplo cuando se carga una imagen o video generando en ocasiones imágenes de gran potencial creativo.

THE ART OF FAILURE OR SISIPHUS SYNDROME.

There is an unsatisfactory desire in the creator, which has often been represented as «the artist's anxiety» and that in psychology this need to reiterate the creative act and the search for perfection would be represented by the symbolic impossibility, but also unconscious, of recovering what Melanie Klein called “the good object” something that had been lost and that gives a feeling of unity in the first stages of life. As an artist, I was soon aware of facing this chimera by learning to deal with imperfection, with failure. As a photographer, I also had to accept the incapacity of photography to establish a relationship of equivalence with the objects it intended to represent.

As a result of this impossibility, this double failure arises this Unknown Error 2.0 project. which brings together a series of works that have as a common denominator the accident, the fall or the error and which questions the naturalness of the photograph, but also the faithful representation.

Unknown Error 2.0 brings together a series of projects carried out over more than a decade that have a common denominator and the concept of failure. In this series of projects the casual, the random, the coincidence, the accident or the error are containers of notable and powerful creativity.

Unknow Error 2.0 consists of three projects that also work autonomously:

1. Lab Mistakes 2004, brings together a series of photographs on small format paper from which they emerged to reveal the analogue photographic film and which were unsuitable for sale by the photography laboratory where I worked and which I was collecting during the months when I was working at that company.

2. Interludes 2005, appears as a continuation of Lab Mistakes. In this case, a malfunction of the digital image processing software that I used produced this casual and formally similar encounter that led me to take a further step in that direction and create this series of backlit light boxes.

3. Glitches 2008 / 13, gives a new step in my research proposal around error, accident, failure and my interests in Art not carried out by the man of the man. On this occasion, a series of “found images” that arise from errors when browsing the internet are recognized. The search engines we use to navigate the web use different extensions that can generate bugs, system failures, for example when an image or video is loaded, occasionally generating images with great creative potential.
