DIRECTOR STATEMENT :

"SAND LABYRINTHS" film project was born from a personal need to understand the world and myself through cinema.

As a filmmaker, I am interested in exploring the boundaries between the intimate and the collective, the real and the imaginary, through narrative fragmentation and the alternation of points of view that circulate between the reflective and the observational, the poetic, the realistic, and the magical. This project is a hallucinatory journey aimlessly through the interstices of Latin America, but also a profound reflection on the imperfection and insignificance of humanity. A journey without a script or map about human hubris and our desire to control destiny, and how, amidst this chaos and uncertainty, our capacity to reinvent ourselves emerges in the midst of the storm.

With a hybrid film style that combines personal diary, road movie, and social documentary, I seek to create a cinematic experience that challenges narrative conventions and moves the viewer, establishing lines of escape between the most intimate and personal experiences and broader themes, such as art, identity, and inequality.

"LABERINTOS DE ARENA" nace de una necesidad personal de entender el mundo y a mí mismo a través del cine.

Como cineasta, me interesa explorar las fronteras entre lo íntimo y lo colectivo, lo real y lo imaginario a través de la fragmentación narrativa y la alternancia de puntos de vista que circulan entre lo reflexivo y lo observacional, lo poético, lo realista o lo mágico. Este proyecto es un viaje alucinado sin rumbo por los intersticios de Latinoamérica, pero también una reflexión profunda sobre lo imperfecto y lo insignificante del hombre. Un viaje sin guion ni mapa sobre la hybris humana y nuestro deseo de controlar el destino y de cómo en medio de ese caos e incertidumbre surge nuestra capacidad para reinventarnos en medio de la tormenta.

Con un estilo filmico híbrido que combina diario personal, road movie y documental social, busco crear una experiencia cinematográfica que desafíe las convenciones narrativas y emocione al espectador, estableciendo lineas de fuga entre las experiencias más íntimas y personales con temas más amplios, como el arte, la identidad y la desigualdad.

SINOPSIS:

Un artista en medio de una crisis existencial y creativa, abandona su burguesa vida en Valencia, España, para adentrarse en el corazón de Brasil. Lo que comienza como un viaje en busca de su ópera prima se convierte en una odisea laberíntica, en un viaje sin fin. Entre ritos dionisíacos, encuentros con sabios indígenas y noches soñando al borde del abismo, el protagonista descubre que filmar el mundo es descifrar su propio enigma. ¿Hasta dónde llegarías para encontrar tu lugar en el mundo? "Laberintos de Arena" es un viaje alucinado entre el documental y el sueño, donde el cine es un espejo deformado que refleja tanto la belleza de lo efímero como las cicatrices de un mundo en llamas.

SYNOPSIS:

An artist in the midst of an existential and creative crisis abandons his bourgeois life in Valencia, Spain, to delve into the heart of Brazil. What begins as a journey in search of his debut film becomes a labyrinthin odyssey, a journey with no end. Between Dionysian rites, encounters with indigenous sages, and nights dreaming on the edge of the abyss, the protagonist discovers that filming the world is deciphering its own enigma. How far would you go to find your place in the world? "Sand Labyrinths" is a hallucinatory journey between documentary and a dream, where cinema is a distorted mirror that reflects both the beauty of the ephemeral and the scars of a world in flames.
